Weather forecast verification is a key aspect of meteorology, by testing how accrate atmospheric models have been, forecasters can feedback improvements into the models to continually adjust the forecast. The UK Temperature Verification section looks at the 5-Day Met Office temperature forecast and compares this against their observations. As part of the mathMETics project we would like students to verify the weather forecast at their school site, providing an excellent opportunity to learn how maths is used to predict the weather and climate.
